SANCTUS 2005 Sanctus is the luxury cuvée of Château La Bienfaisance and the 2005 is unquestionably their finest effort to date. A 90% merlot / 10% Cabernet Franc blend fashioned from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, this blockbuster boasts an inky/purple color in addition to scents of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, cassis and espresso roast. Dense, rich and pure, with high, but sweet tannin, amazing levels of glycerine and a 40+ second finish, it should drink well young yet age effortlessly for 15-18 years. (92-95) Robert M. CHATEAU LA BIENFAISANCE 2005 A breakthrough effort for this 25-acre vineyard in Saint-Christophe des Bardes, this blend of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc boasts the talented Stéphane Derenoncourt as its consultant. The dense ruby/purple hue is accompanied by aromas and flowers of sweet cherries, cassis, pain grille and spice. Full-bodied with moderately high but sweet, well integrated tannin, this beauty should age effortlessly for 15 or more years. ( 91-94)
