SANCTUS 2002 (a special cuvee from Chateau La Bienfaisance, vinified by consulting oenologist Stephane Derenoncourt).
Medium ruby. Reticient but perfumed aromas of black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate. Fat, sweet and round, with impressive mouthfilling breadth and concentration. Intriguing suggestions of minerals and chocolate to go with the blackberry, black cherry, licorice, tobacco leaf and mint. Finishes with chewy, ripe tannins and very good length.(87-90) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - USA

SANCTUS 2002 It seems that "Garage Wines" are beginning to become a thing of the past (writes Steven Spurrier). Just as well, as their over-charged fruit never saw them built to last. They are being replaced in Bordeaux jargon by "Cult Wines".
70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc. Very good colour, very rich supple fruit with blackcurrant Merlot and tobacco leafiness of Cabernet Franc, wonderful ripeness on the palate, elegant and fine. Drink 2006-15 (4/5 Stars) Decanter (GB) - Bordeaux 'cult' wines
