LA BIENFAISANCE 2006 Tasted privately with a negociant, April 2007.
Very ripe, quite oaky nose with crème de cassis and violets. Full-bodied, ripe, saturated tannins, good balance and poise, ripe black cherries, blueberries with a touch of blood oranges. Modern in style, well crafted, approachable and very enjoyable. Excellent. ( 90-92 )

SANCTUS 2005 Bright medium ruby-red. Subtle aromas of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate and flowers. Broad and ripe but classically dry, even a bit youthfully austere – not a bad thing in this vintage. This builds impressively towards the back, finishing with big tannins and a rich chocolatey flavour. ( 90-92 / 100 ) Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar ( usa)

SANCTUS 2005 A garagiste selection from a 7.5 acre parcel culled from Château La Bienfaisance’s vineyard, Sanctus is a 1,000-case cuvee made from a blend of 70 % Merlot and 30 % Cabernet Franc. Perfectionist winemaking techniques, including small yields of 30-38 hectoliters per hectare, long macerations, malolactic in barrel, and aging sur lie, have resulted in a stunningly rich, profound Saint-Emilion. An inky / purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, camphor, blackberry liqueur, white chocolate, pain grille and spice. This superb, full-bodied, opulent,well-textured wine should be drinkable young, but age easily for 15 or more years. ( 92-94)
