SANCTUS 2001 Bright medium ruby. Bright, pure aromas of blackberry and coffee. Juicy but slightly medicinal flavors of blackberry and black cherry; a slightly chunky, muscular style of 2001, finishing with edgy tannins.
The '02 may well turn out to be more pliant. (88-89) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - USA

SANCTUS 2001 It is obvious that hotspot winemaking consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt has had a profound impact on the quality of these wines. The 2001 exhibits a deep purple color, and a sweet nose of blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, vanilla, and expresso. It is deep, full-bodied, heady, and certainly one of the best St.-Emilions. Anticiped maturity: 2007-2017. (90-92) Robert M. Parker - The Wine Advocate - USA
